Can you pick out the tourists? Apparently they can't either.

Travelers never think that they are the foreigners.

Interesting thing to think about, huh? What are YOUR thoughts on this??? Agree or disagree?

Let’s Walk About It

I know, I know, I’ve dropped the ball again. I’m kind of like an outfielder who gets too distracted by the fans doing the wave right after the seventh inning stretch. I mean, what good is checking in on this blog if its own author neglects it for months at a time? Well, I’m here to say that my most recent hiatus is over (…until the next time of course!). Now that I don’t have school to worry about, I will be posting (or so it is planned) at least once a week. That said, any articles, links, pictures, etc. that you think would be appropriate for this site, please pass them along.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, let’s start off with a bang. Remember that Matt fella that I wrote about a while back (Where the Hell is Matt?)? Well, he’s not the only one making headlines for his innovative/cool travel antics. It’s actually becoming quite trendy to be doing something that a generation or two before us would most likely be frowning upon us for–dropping everything and traveling! Oh yeah, it’s the hip thing to do…well, the freeing thing to do anyway. Take Matt Green for example (maybe it’s the name “Matt”…). He was a civil engineer in New York and decided to drop everything he had to take a walk across the country…literally (Forrest Gump, anyone?). Although it sounds unorthodox, nobody can deny that this is one way to see the country. Having started his journey in March 2010, his goal is to make it to Oregon in a nine month period with only a cart, a tent, and some money for food. Although he is doing this for himself and not for any cause, he is definitely an inspiration to people around the country to get up and travel, to do what makes them happy. And, as Green demonstrates, you don’t need a lot to travel!

If you’re interested in following Matt’s journey, be sure to check out his blog:http://www.imjustwalkin.com/.

Hoppy Easter

How do you celebrate Easter?

We once again find ourselves in the middle of a holiday season that is full of history and traditions and, of course, an assortment of colorful food (quite literally this time!). For some of us, we hide brilliantly colored eggs and watch the younglings in our family wake up early to seek them out, and hopefully, find some goodies as well. For others, we find ourselves spending the day with family, attending a brunch, and napping from the food coma that follows. Whatever your traditions may be, these are the types of things that run deep in our culture, in our very blood. We continue to follow these patterns year after year, often with little change. It’s human nature and it stretches across cultures around the world. Check out how other countries and cultures around the world celebrate this Springtime holiday.

So, whether you’re American, French, Italian, or whatever…Joyeuses Pâques, Buona Pasqua, Felices Pascuas…

Happy Easter!

SB ’10

As some of you may have noticed, it’s been a week or two since my last post. Well, the only excuse I have for you is Spring Break. Yep, it’s around that time of year again when students are free from studies for a week, people with careers keep on careering it, and college students 21-years and higher give up their dignity for a week (It’s all in good fun, right?).

As the students flock to the beaches and locations much warmer than the Midwest has been over the past few months (ie: Milwaukee), they are gearing up for a much needed and deserved break (Ok, as a student I’m a bit biased.). While travel is to be expected, some of the destinations may surprise you. Check out some of the top Spring Break spots of 2010.

What did you do for SB ’10? Where’d you go?
